Is there a description that covers research and development?

By description, do you mean the nominal code or the actual line description for a purchase invoice?

I can’t see a suitable one if I’m honest. It may be worth you creating a dedicated code for this under Direct Expenses. If it makes your life a bit easier, you could even create two - one for research, and one for development
