A particular email address keeps failing

Hi Folks,
Has anyone experienced bounce backs when sending invoices and messages etc?
The email has previously worked but stopped about a month ago.
Sending emails to the same address from Outlook works fine. The client has confirmed she isnt receiving the Quickfile attempts.

I’ve tried deleting the contact and recreating but it didn’t work.

All other client email addresses work fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Darren

I think it’s most likely a change to the recipients spam filtering policy. Are they using a Yahoo or AOL address by any chance? Both these mail providers recently implemented much stricter policies to combat spam, unfortunately it has caused genuine mail to be bounced too.

It’s hard to say exactly what the problem is without seeing the bounce message. However it would likely be fixed by either adding an SPF record to allow us to send mail on your behalf or configuring your own SMTP settings in QuickFile. Both these methods are covered here:

Hi Glenn,
Thanks for the advice.

This is what I get back:

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

(EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED)
Error Type: SMTP
Remote server (81.27.85.96) issued an error.
hMailServer sent: RCPT TO:
Remote server replied: 550 SPF: 80.175.65.138 is not allowed to send mail from box09.co.uk

This is the remote server saying that you are sending mail from quickfiles servers on behalf of box09.co.uk and that isn’t permitted. As @Glenn said, you need to either enter an SPF record or use your own mail server.

Thanks for confirming Lurch. I will give it a go.

Cheers
