Bank feed question

This is a very basic question. We currently use Quickfile very manually, and enter our bank records manually from paper statements in a batch when they arrive in the post. We would like to explore the open bank feed, and import a couple of bank entries, so that we can experiment and test the use of this.
The question I have is, can we do this to try this out, without affecting the records we currently hold, and then delete the feed if we find we do not like to use this?
Thanks, John

Hello @jpmort

Other than manually entering transactions from paper based statement you have 2 options.

  1. Importing a bank statement

This is a free option (no subscriptions required), it involves downloading a csv file from your online banking and importing into QuickFile.

Using this option you can choose to delete a batch import or delete transactions manually.

  1. Bank feed

This option requires a subscription and involves you giving authorisation for QuickFile to download the transactions overnight from you bank.

We give a 2 week trial period for this by default on your account.
Using this option, removing the transactions is done manually by deleting the ones you wish to remove.

To check where a transaction comes from you can hover over them and they will say “Imported from bank feed” or Imported from bank statement.

Thanks!
I already have the bank feed option available to me.
And I have a further query, as to how to use this. Currently I create an invoice, and the payment to the bank account is made some time later, often weeks later. When I read the way that the bank tagging works is that the statement entry can then generate the invoice.
How does this bank tagging work when the invoice is already in the system?
Thanks, John

Hello @jpmort

the statement entry can then generate the invoice.

In the example you give you would not use this option.

If the invoice is already in the system you would

  • Click Tag Me on the receipt (when it is made)
  • Select Payment from Customer
  • Select the customer’s account (The outstanding invoices would show)
  • Select the invoice you are tagging it to and save

Thanks for your help!!
