Is QF able to report on departments? I have several clients that use this function, one has about 12 departments.

You can use project tags to group together activity for reporting purposes. You can also consider creating specific nominal codes for sales and use custom reports to display activity on those codes. I would recommend experimenting with these features to see if any work for you.
