Hello, I have tried to navigate to this problem I am having but cannot find any answers. I have card payment set up, the toggle is “on” for accepting GoCardless payments, under client settings it is not turned on to disable but when the client logs in to pay (or uses link) they are only able to select Direct Debit. Does anyone know why this is happening? According to GoCardless it is all live. Thanks, Ryan
Looks OK for me using Firefox 77.0.1 under Windows 7.
Has more than one client experienced the problem? Have you replicated it on your own computer?
Hi @ShellShock
Can I just double check, what card payment method do you have set up?
Exactly what do you mean by this?
Hi, I have turned on GoCardless. GoCardless have activated the account their end. But, when I click on the invoice as the client, only direct debit is possible.
I am logging in as the client with another browser. No card payment option is showing.
That sounds correct. Do GoCardless offer a card payment option? I’ve always used Stripe for that.
You can go to the clients control panel and click the “impersonate client” button to save having to do it this way.
GoCardless is direct debit only, they don’t support card payments.
You would need to connect something like Stripe to accept card payments within QuickFile.
Argh! well that was the whole point. Sorry what a waste of time
Thanks, wrongly assumed they took card payment and all the others seemed excessive costs as we only have a few payments a year. Just done PayPal in 5 minutes instead.
Oh dear, that is pretty tragic, must have been desperate. Did you not see the Stripe option?
yes but its not immediate. just wasted 3 days with GoCardless.
For occasional payments Stripe (1.4%+20p) will almost certainly be cheaper than PayPal (for low volume they charge 2.9%+30p).
The only exception would be if your bank charges you a significant fee for incoming bank transfers and you tend to use PayPal for outgoing payments - Stripe always sends payments to your bank (they batch up all payments received in the same day) whereas PayPal you have the option of leaving the balance in your PayPal account and spending it from there rather than transferring it to your normal bank account.
Nor are GoCardless direct debits. The only option that gives you instant access to the funds when you’ve received them is PayPal, but you pay a lot extra for the privilege.
By immediate I mean set it up now. It took 3 days to only now find GoCardless is only for DD. Wasnt 100% clear in my haste
I should have spotted that in my initial response but to be honest I often confuse the two despite my experience in using them both.
That did confuse me tbh, I thought I must have missed something that GC had introduced!
