Hi I already have a sole trader account but will soon be changing to a limited company. From what I have read so far I will need to set up a new account - is that correct? If so how do I get around the fact that my email address will be the same? Also do I have to pay two subscriptions or how does it work - the sole trader account will no longer be in use? I don’t currently use any of your add on services, invoicing etc so the existing account is very straightforward but it would be useful for the customer names etc to be migrated? Thanks
Hello @kirsty2
From what I have read so far I will need to set up a new account - is that correct?
That is correct, as the Limited company is a different legal entity you will have to have a new account.
If so how do I get around the fact that my email address will be the same?
You can only use your email address on 1 account at a time, if you are deleting the old account this wont be a problem, if not you will either need to use a new email or add a different email to your old account before switching.
Also do I have to pay two subscriptions or how does it work - the sole trader account will no longer be in use?
As the old account is not being used the number of nominal postings in a rolling 12 month period will reduce to the point you hit the free tier threshold (1000 nominal postings in a rolling 12 month period) where no subscription is required.
The new account will also take time to hit the threshold where a subscription is required.
but it would be useful for the customer names etc to be migrated?
We can migrate your client and supplier accounts across for you, just provide us with the old and new account numbers when you are ready.
Thank you for the info and a quick response!
Depending on the mail provider you can sometimes use special suffixes to give you unique addresses with a single mailbox. For example any gmail address (or custom domain hosted by Google workspace) you can add +anything
before the @
, so example@gmail.com
, example+accounts@gmail.com
, etc etc all go to the same mailbox but count as different addresses for the purpose of QuickFile.
