Changing subcategories in nominal codes

Hi

I have a property business and so want to track the asset values by each property but also keep track of depreciation by each property. I have set up various nominal codes by property name and an associated depreciation line where relevant. However when looking at the balance sheet these depreciation lines are shown separately under current liabilities rather than being netted off against the associated asset. There doesn’t appear to be a way to view which sub category these nominal codes have been assigned to to make sure I have set them up correctly, and no map of the nominal codes to see which accounts they are assigned to.

Is there a way around this? I have looked at the possibility of creating a new nominal code for the depreciation and migrate the current code across to it but it doesn’t seem to answer the problem.

It is not crucial but just means I have to do some manual calculations (with the increased chance of errors) at the year end to show the true position.

Thank you in advance

Hello @PeterN

In order for the depreciation to work correctly the word needs to be at the end of the nominal name (like in the example below), currently you have it abbreviated. Once you do this you can then click Options > Settings to view/set up the parent code
