Claiming back VAT on vehicle, of which the vat has been payed for up front?

Hi, we have recently purchased a vehicle on hp.

We had to pay the entire VAT of the value of the vehicle upfront.

How do I generate a purchase record for just the VAT, to then be able to reclaim the VAT this quarter?

Are you doing your vat on cash or accrual basis? Is it business van or car?
