Hi. I have discovered that a balance has been created in Account 10000 System Suspense Account. The note on this account suggests that this is a short term holding account and that anything showing should clear within 5 to 10 minutes, but my balance dates back 5 months. Could anyone help me with understanding what might have caused this and how I would go about correcting it as my balance sheet is now out of balance by the amount in that account. Many thanks.
Probably an untagged bank account transaction - anything untagged will have the double entry in suspense until you properly tag it.
Hi Ian - no all transactions are tagged. To be clear this is not Suspense Account 9998, it is a separate account that shows as 10000, which is a System Suspense Account. Thanks though.
