Client Shows Twice on search

hi, i notice when i give a client (EUROTOOLS LIMITED) a Reference (EUR01) for example, when i then type the letters to search - EUR for example it reveals

EUROTOOLS LIMITED
EUROTOOLS LIMITED (EUR01)

is this the same company…

I’m assuming you’re searching for something like “EUR” in this case - would that be correct? If that’s the case, it means it’s matched on both the reference and the client name.

If you were to search for “EURO”, I would expect only the top line would show (the one without the reference).

hi, indeed, but if you just type EU, you get

EUROPOOLS LIMITED
EUROPOOLS LIMITED (EUR01)
EUROTOOLS LIMITED
EUROTOOLS LIMITED (EUR02)
and so on, seems daft finding same record twice…

Not all clients have a matching reference - it’s a free text field, so some accounts may have some like “0005” for example, or even from a previous trading name. In this instance, it would only appear once.
