Creating refund from a supplier and record currency gain/loss

Dear helpers,

In November I payed a supplier in Italy GPB288.33 for some goods. I have send back the goods in January and have now been credited GBP302.95. I would like to tag it as a refund on returnd goods and as a gain through currency exchange.

I am sure it must be easy, as most things with this great software, but I can not find how to proceed.

Please help,
Philip

Hi @philip_ihle

I’ve created a dummy EUR invoice for a step by step guide, although bear in mind the exchange rates may be slightly different.

So, you need to find your original invoice from this supplier. I’ve created the following one as an example:

I’ve logged this as paid in full and entered the amount you’ve given in your post:

Click on ‘More options’ at the top, and select ‘credit note’. You can then finalise this as you wish:

When you click save, you will be prompted to whether this is going back to your bank or to be held on the supplier account. Select bank, and fill out the GBP value box:

That’s the invoice credited, and this has created a currency loss/gain for us too:

I hope that helps!
