I have recently switched banks from HSBC to Starling, I added Starling as a bank account and ticked “set as default current account” and hidden the old HSBC accounts. However when I use Nominal Acc no 1200 - Current account, in a custom report it uses the original HSBC account.
I tried both modifying the old report and creating a new one with the same result.

User error. I don’t think you can change the default bank nominal once you’ve set it. Logically this would be correct also, as otherwise you’d have two different bank account transactions under the same nominal if you switched banks part way through the year.
“Set as default account” doesn’t change the nominal code of any accounts, it simply changes which account shows at the top of the list and which one is selected by default in the drop down lists for logging payments etc. The new account will still be numbered 1204 or whatever - you can find which number via the bank account settings or the balance sheet/CoA reports.
