Digital VAT filing

I am trying to file my first VAT return in quick file having previously done it on paper and manually inputing.

I have tried to put details in the adjustments boxes but received the message that digital VAT needs supporting accounting records. What does this mean and what does this involve, and what am i required to do.

I do two or three invoices with confidential narratives- am i required to upload this and bank statements; and if so how.

No. What your required to do is use the accounting software how it was intended.

By inputting invoices and receipts and tagging bank transactions to those invoices and receipts.

The whole point of mtd is having a digital link between your records and the vat return submission. Not so you can just input any old numbers with no traceability.
