Do I need Power User?

Last year I was claiming expenses from a client on a very regular basis and this meant I went over the limit to need Power User. This year however we have changed the model so I will have. alot less transactions. I dont think I need the Power User but do I just deselect it in the renewal window and carry on as normal. If things change then I will activate the power users again?

Hi Paul, as far as I know you don’t need to do anything. The power user subscription depends on the ledger entries. If they fall below 1000 then your account becomes a free account to your renewal date. But keep in mind, power user subscription is not only for accounts with 1000 or more ledger entries, it also has a lot more other features and advantages. If you don’t use these features then you are fine with the free account.

If you check account settings -> company settings then that will tell you what “size” your account is currently graded at. If that says L or XL then you need to renew your subscription, if it says M or smaller then you don’t have to purely because of the account size but you might if you’ve started using any of the additional features that are power-user only like multiple trading styles.

The size grading is based on the previous 12 months of transactions so if you’ve only just gone down in transaction volume you may find you still have to renew for one more year until enough old transactions drop out of the 12 month window.

Great community response - thanks @ian_roberts and @rhc. Just checked and I am still classed at L so I guess this makes it an easy choice. Don’t use the other features (just checked) so paying purely for amount of transactions I used to have going through the system.

Of course the flip side of it being graded on past transactions is that you tend to get a bit of a grace period when you first start ramping up before you have to start paying. Most competing systems are more expensive anyway, and you have to start paying from day one (apart from maybe a 30 day trial period).

I agree - its not bad value for money and now I am used to the solution I like how easy it is to use. Just switching models to a less consulting and more B2B sales approach means a lot less transactions (too many less at the minute!)

Cheers, appreciate your response.
