I’ve got two clients now where the Yodlee bank feed is duplicating the card transactions. So it shows once when the card is authorised (internal bank process) and then again when the payment actually comes out of the account. Currently this is happening with Lloyds and Cashplus.
Does the description change on the transaction after a few days? For example, does the bank show it online as: 13/10/2017 CARD TRANSACTION
and then changes it to something like: 13/10/2017 CARD PAYMENT TO XYZ
If so, that’s what would be causing the duplication as can’t detect them as duplicates. However, I believe we actually delay the Lloyd’s feed for this reason (will check with the team in the morning).
There is a way however, to change the way duplicates are checked. By default we check date, description and amount. You can change this to just date and amount in the feed settings.
13/10/2017 CARD TRANSACTION
then
15/10/2017 CARD TRANSACTION CHIP & PIN
The Cashplus one is;
13/10/2017 Auth: CARD TRANSACTION
then
15/10/2017 Fin: CARD TRANSACTION
I’ll have a look at the feed settings then as you suggest and maybe that’ll resolve it. Up until fairly recently the Lloyds one was working fine and only importing one transaction, so this is a new change in the last 2 months I’d say so I guess something has changed at their end as to how they show the transactions.
This is the issue here. The banks change the details, so Yodlee will pick up the first transaction on the 13/10, and then see it again on the 15/10 without knowing it’s a duplicate as the only thing that matches is the amount.
Unfortunately the duplicate filter won’t fix either of these issues. What we have done with other banks is put a delay on the feed to prevent this happening. It means the feed is 2-3 days behind live data, but this would prevent the duplicates.
I would like to know how many other users experience this however, before asking for any changes to be made here, as the delay would affect all accounts.
