Error on VAT submission

I have tried to post my VAT returns electronically to HMRC before the end of the accounting period but have received an ‘error’ message informing me that I’m unable to post VAT returns before the end of the accounting period, i.e. 31 Jan 2019. I tried to send the VAT returns now as I will be out of the Country until 14 Feb, and was worried that sending the VAT returns a couple of weeks late may be a problem? Can someone advise on best course of action please?

If the return is for the period 1st November 2018 to 31st January 2019 then the submission deadline will be 7th March, so you’ve got plenty of time (it’s always a month plus seven days from the end of the relevant quarter).
