I am trying to submit my EU Sales Filing online using QuickFile but get the error below:

_EC Sales submission to HMRC failed. _
By Gateway : Authentication Failure. The supplied user credentials failed validation for the requested service.

The ECSL service is enabled on my HMRC account (checked by logging in and submitting manually through web interface). My EU sales filing credentials in QuickFile seem to be correct as they are set the same as the VAT credentials, which works fine when used through QuickFile.

Any ideas as to what may be wrong or that I am doing incorrectly, BTW I have another Quickfile account for another company which is set up the same way (different login details as different HMRC account) and this works fine so a bit confused.

This message is returned by HMRC. It’s a little vague but it would usually indicate that one of the following credentials are not what they were expecting.

  • VAT Registration Number
  • USERID
  • Password
  • Branch Number (usually 0)
  • Registered Postcode (try with or without spaces)
