HMRC Tax Accounts - Failed Status

Hi everyone. I’ve previously submitted 2 VAT returns without any issues and I need to submit a 3rd but there’s a failed status against my account. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting and its made no difference, I’ve logged out and re logged in and even tried restarting my laptop but the status stays the same, anyone got any suggestions?

Hi @themayflower2020,

Have you completely removed the link by clicking the disconnect button? Have you also checked that when re-linking you’ve connected the correct HMRC account?

Yes I’ve completely removed the link and I’ve only got 1 hmcr account. I’ve logged onto hmcr separately and I can see the previous vat returns so I know its definitely the right account

Hi @themayflower2020,

I have had a look and can see that the error associated with the fail on your account is “The remote endpoint has indicated that no data can be found”

This error means that HMRC don’t hold any data for your company on the MTD system. This could be due to either you’re trying to submit too early or there’s a problem on HMRC’s end.

To resolve this issue, try to log in to your HMRC business tax account directly. Your account should display when your next return is due and the dates for this return. If it doesn’t, you’ll need to contact HMRC for help.
