Invoice vs Payment Exchange Rates

I have created a sales invoice in euros. I also have set the exchange rate according to the GBP amount paid into the account before recording the payment. However, when I log the payment it uses an exchange rate different than the one I have set and does not let me change it. Can you please advise?

With most invoices and payments, there are 2 exchange rates - 1 at the time of the invoice, and one at the time of the payment.

The exchange rate automatically defaults to one that we’ve stored from that date pulled from xe.com.

While you can’t change the exchange rate for the payment, you can change the GBP equivalent which will in turn recalculate the exchange rate. The difference is then logged as a currency charge on your account (viewable under your Chart of Accounts Report).
