I am having issues re-establishing MTD ability. I needed to regrant authority and have double checked with HMRC re Gateway ID - this is correct. After I grant authority via HMRC there is an issue in the VAT Dashboard - below. I can’t create a return at all. Any help out there?
If you are still having issues connecting the account and have double checked that you are connecting the correct government gateway account then I would suggest contacting HMRC to make sure that everything is showing correctly on their side
I have done this already - they say everything is ok at their side and they can see me logging on to the account etc Their call is that it is on the software side.
The error coming back on this occasion is that the client or agent isn’t authorised. This is typically either because the VAT registration number isn’t signed up for MTD, or it’s the wrong HMRC account.
Given that you’re re-adding this after using this previously, it would suggest it’s the second one. This error is returned to us by HMRC and unfortunately, they don’t provide any further details.
If you log into the HMRC website with the same username and password, do you see the option for MTD there?
You were absolutely right - there are in fact two Govt Gateway ID’s linked to the business so whilst the first HMRC agent said we were using the correct account we weren’t!
