Hi
For some reason, my December 2017 end of month payroll journal is not picking up the debit of the directors salaries so that it is constantly appearing in my P&L as a separate line for Directors salaries. This does not happen for any other months despite the categorisations being exactly the same. I can’t figure out what it is I’ve put in wrong for this to appear.
Hoping you can help!
Many thanks
Al
Hello @AlRyan
If you view the Directors Salaries nominal in the Chart of accounts report, do you see any entries that could be reversing the other days you’ve created?
The other thing to check is your date range. Bear in mind that a P&L report is only for entires between 2 dates.
Hi, yes I have checked the dates, and having checked the chart of accounts, there are no entries that could be reversing the other days I’ve created.
What’s really strange is that when I create an end of month payroll journal, I copy a previous one and just change the figures to be relevant figures. And in all the other month’s, the transactions balance and there is no separate entry for directors salaries on the PYL, but for some reason, for December it appears. I’ve even deleted the December 2017 journal, and copied the March 2018 one, then changed the dates and figures, but it still shows. I’m really perplexed why it’s not picking up the corresponding debit within the journal to balance off the credit as it has done in all other months?
It might be a movement to PL journal entry that’s missing so let me check this.
thanks
Al
I’ve sorted this now, thanks.
