Landlords - how to deal with letting agent fees and statements?

Hello, not sure why I am having issues with such an easy topic, but here it is. I don’t send invoices to my tenants, as my properties are managed by the letting agent. I receive monthly statements. I imported CSV from my bank, but I can’t assign received payments to a specific property.

Hi @Mik182

Welcome to QuickFile!

Assigning payments to properties is done through a feature called project tags which is set at an invoice level.

Although you don’t send invoices to your tenants, an invoice is simply a way in QuickFile to record income. In a similar sense, a purchase invoice is a way to record expenditure.

You can create a rent demand on the landlord dashboard, which in turn automatically creates the invoice for you. When the payment comes into the bank account, you can then simply just click on the “Tag” button, and mark it as a “payment from a customer”.

As the invoice will have the project tag on it already (as the landlord dashboard handles that for you), everything will link up and be allocated to the property.

Hope this helps, but please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions. I’ve also included a link below for our landlord dashboard guide which walks through some of the common areas, which may help further -

Hi @Mik182

Just to add to my reply above, we have two further guides that can help with the letting agent side of things:

Are your properties in your personal name or in a limited company? As the way to use QF will be different.
