I’m in the process of spicing up the aesthetics of our estimates, so i’ve done lots of HTML to make things more appealing and helping our clients read the estimate more clearly. Initially i was doing inline styling as i didnt realise there was an option for placing all of the CSS, so i have managed to condense the number of characters within the inventory list by calling for the class instead, unfortunately it is chopping off some of the text that is very important to our specifications, etc.
Is there a way of increasing the number of characters we can store per item in the inventory? We have been using QuickFile since we started trading in 2012 and we don’t want to have to change platform due to such a minor niggle?
At the moment the description is limited to 500 characters on both the inventory and the invoice itself. There isn’t a way to increase this unfortunately, although we can certainly consider it for the future.
How long as your descriptions, roughly? What sort of increase would you be looking for?
1000 characters would be more than enough! Its just cutting off the end of some important datasheet links etc. Obviously, a simple html link can be atleast 30-40 characters.
Here is an example of one of the inventory items, this is 589 characters before we even start adding the actual variables?

I’ve fed this back to our development team to see if they can review it and increase it. Unfortunately I can’t give any timescales for this, but either myself or a colleague will give you an update once we hear back.
However, looking at it, I can’t see why we can’t increase the limit here.
This is very very important to us though, otherwise we are going to have to use another accounting platform, its already difficult enough trying to train the computer illiterate estimators to edit the variables (hence the reason for hashtags), it causes so many issues when clients are too lazy to read through our quotes and costs us alot of time and resources rectifying jobs that have not been done correctly as the client may have not followed instructions prior to our visit, etc.
We would be happy to pay a small additional monthly fee if it is due to additional data being used (although we have only used like 100mb in 10 years), so please accept my apologies if we sound pushy, but we really need to launch this like yesterday.
Sorry, please excuse my pushy approach, its just being a web developer myself, i know this is a very straight forward request, but i can also appreciate that you may have a list to get through
