I’ve used QuickFile now to submit a couple of my VAT returns online and it all seemed quite painless - thank you. I must confess I thought that was it and I was now MTD compliant but now I’m having doubts.
There’s a lot of talk about registering for the MTD pilot -do I need to do that? As far as I can tell all I need to do is, in QuickFile, link a Tax Account via Reports->HMRC->Connect a new Tax Account. Am I missing something here?

At the moment you would need to enrol on the pilot with HMRC, although I would imagine this would be automatic come April. It may be worth enrolling now however to ensure everything is set up correctly.
The original VAT returns in QuickFile were submitted using a different process with HMRC, which although is digital, isn’t MTD.
