Manage account via QuickFile

Hi,

I’m trying to file my 1st VAT return and would ideally like to avoid using the bridging option. The website states that “if you are managing your accounts in QuickFile we will automatically calculate your VAT Return and allow you to submit the return directly to HMRC using the new MTD interface.”

I would like to do this but how do I manage my accounts in QuickFile? I only send 1 invoice per month and have no expenses. I’ve added the invoices to my account but still can’t submit my VAT return…

David

Hello @daccas

I have taken a look at your account and I can see you have already submitted via the Bridging option.

It looks like the invoices were not being picked up due to the vat filing start date. (currently set to 13/10/2023) this would exclude all invoices prior to this date.

It should be set to the start date of your first QuickFile return (leave this is as you have now submitted).

Going forward if you would not like to use manage your accounts using QuickFile rather than vat bridging.

Turn off vat bridging in the vat settings

  1. Enter the invoices
  2. Enter the payments (as you are on cash accounting)
  3. The vat return will pick up the invoices if the following apply
  • The invoices are marked as paid
  • The payment dates fall within the return period and are after 13/10/2023 (as you are on cash accounting the payment date is used as the tax point)

That’s great. Thanks Steve
