I am entering data from beginning of a financial year and want to mark a VAT quarter as filed. If I create a VAT return can I do this?
Can I just check whether you are registered with Making Tax Digital?
Yes they have been registered since April 2019. The VAT returns for June and September have been submitted via other software.
You will have to temporarily turn off the online filing option in your QuickFile settings. This will allow you to save the VAT return without any of the data being sent to HMRC. You will need to make sure that the return exactly matches what was submitted to HMRC - if this means that you need to make manual adjustments to achieve this then make a note of them as you will need to do these in reverse for the next one to make sure that everything balances.
Once you have saved this return, you can then turn online filing back on.
I hope this makes sense, but if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
