Modify Nominal Codes or Chart of Accounts

I am set up as an administrator but I am unable to make any amendments in the chart of accounts ie: modify an account name. I notice that there is a greyed out lock to one side of each listed nominal account and when I click the settings button to the other side a message pops up stating unable to modify a system account.

Is there a way to unlock this?

The standard system nominal codes cannot be modified, although you can also add your own new nominal codes.
