MTD - Making Tax Digital VAT registration question

Sorry if these questions have already been asnwered else where, but I really need some help with MTD.

I am a sole trader and currently submit my VAT returns in quickfile where it saves them on my account then I log in to my HMRC VAT account and manually enter the details and submit it online.

I want to sign up for the MTD service, but I need to be sure it is the right thing to do. I do make purchases from EU business, so am I ok to sign up for it at this time? I don’t want to sign up then realise I can’t submit my returns. I hope someone can assist with this.

They’ve opened it up to people who do EU purchases now so it should work for you if you sign up. Though they do say not to sign up a few days either side of your direct debit date so if your quarters include October-December then you should probably wait til a week or so after the February DD date before you register.
