I am trying to rationalise the chart of accounts and have noticed that depreciation is in the middle of the expenses list. This isn’t great from an accounting point of view, normally you would see depreciation shown at the bottom of the profit and loss expediture list. With that in mind i was trying to either delete or rename the codes 8000-8020 and have them at code 8400 - 8420 at the bottom of the expense list. However quickfile wont allow me to delete ot edit them. I thought not to worry I’ll just create another code called depreciation in code 8400, however quickfile doesn’t like that as it is a duplicate name. Is there any way to get depreciation shown at the the bottom of the list of expenses ?

The standard codes are locked and can not be amended.
You could create a new code (Asset Depreciation) using the required number.
There is also an option to “Hide codes with no balance” on the Reports > Chart of Accounts screen
