One invoice - staged payments

Hi All,

I’ve read through a few posts and have found similar queries but they don’t quite cover what I’m after.

With the majority of our projects we issue an invoice, for which we require 50% payment to start and the final 50% just prior to delivery. Is it possible to put two due dates on an invoice?

An invoice can only have one due date, so you would need to either split this into two invoices, are write specific notes in the payment terms box to specify that 50% is payable by x date and the balance is due by y date.

Worth noting that if it’s for a job that’s going to last a while, it should be separate invoices. I’m not an accountant, but I’m sure the invoice date should reflect the date the work was carried out

Thanks guys.

We’ve been told by our accountant to avoid invoicing twice because an invoice relates (in our case) for one or a single collection of bespoke handmade products.

Thanks for your help!
