Ongoing problem submitting VAT return

We noticed when trying to submit our latest vat return that the previous one was marked ‘error’. We rolled it back ad resubmitted but still get error. I then contact HMRC to verify our details were correct and tried again. Still error. Can you advise me what to do next? The error message I’m getting is:

By ChRIS : The VAT Period you have entered 2018-10 for the VRN *********** was not found, please check and resubmit if necessary.

However we have not changed our VAT period so it is correct. Help!

Have you signed up for MTD since the last time you successfully submitted a return?

No. Should we have? Last successful return was for period to end of july.

Not necessarily, but if you had signed up for it with HMRC but not connected your account with QuickFile that might have been a reason for it to have stopped working.

No we definitely haven’t signed up for it. Thanks for the help anyway.

I can see that you have not signed up to MTD yet, and so you should be able to submit your latest vat return as you have previously.
