I have noticed now that sales coming through PayPal feed are all exclusive of VAT. Is there a way where the feed can create VAT inclusive invoices for UK and EU sales and 0 VAT for Non-EU sales automatically? It should be based on the country.
I’m a little lost now, is there an easy way to do this? or do I have to manually go into each payment/invoice and edit it to reflect the correct VAT for the sale?
There is an option to either treat all invoices at the standard 20% rate, or not at all, but there isn’t an option to set it for anything in between I’m afraid. We don’t receive any of this information from the PayPal feed itself.
For reference however, if you go to the bank account view for PayPal, go to More Options >> Feed Settings, you should see this option:
You do receive from PayPal the address which includes the country, I hope you can develop the feed in the future to use the correct VAT rate according to the country which will be of great help.
You’re welcome to start a thread in the #feature category and suggest this. As you can probably appreciate, VAT is quite a complicated area and depends on various factors.
