Proforma Invoice

Is it possible to create a Proforma Invoice which is then held suspended until the Proforma is paid (not added to ledgers). Once paid the proforma invoice is paid it is then resent as a completed tax invoice?

I would have liked to see the same thing but could not find an actual proforma. I eventually got around this by creating an estimate and changing the wording from estimate or proforma.
