What category is a Union?

Can I ask, what do you mean by “Union”

Is it, as in paying a membership?

When you say category, do you know what section of your Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet you wish to show it in?

I meant, “ How do I report in Purchases, the annual membership fee for the National farmers Union:. I believe it is Tax Deductible as I am self-employed.

I wondered what category Union Membership Fee would fall into. Perhaps Subscription?

Hello @FarmerH

You could post it to Subscriptions but that would show as an overhead on your Profit and loss.
If you wanted it to show under Purchases you could create a code in the purchases range of 5000-5999 (To do this, select Reports > Chart of Accounts > Create New).

As we are not registered accountants or bookkeepers I wouldn’t tell you where to post it to. If you need more advice I would recommend speak to an accountant.
