The bank account balance suddenly inceased by around £5k, without any transaction justifying it - it was the first balance on a new page. The balance on the bank account is £5k more than both the bank statement and the nominal ledger.
How do I adjust the bank account balance?
Compare bank statements with quickfile find when it last matched, work your way back to find a missing entry.
Qf doesn’t just add random balances and you shouldn’t be adjusting anything to fix it other than add missing transactions.
Are you sure some debits/credits haven’t been added the wrong way round?

That was the first thing I checked, and there is no transaction on the bank statement or in the QF bank account.
The total just increased by £5k.

So you’ve pinpointed the line where you have a debit or credit where the balance suddenly shoots up to 5k?
The bank account is a transactional account so is just opening balance plus/minus transactions to date. There is nothing complex behind it.
Have you correctly added your opening balance for that bank account in quickfile?

I have been using QF for 7 years and this is the first time this has happened.
I know how it works, which is why I could not work out what had happened.
The transaction is around £400, but the balance changes over the pre transaction balance by nearly £6k.

If you do an advanced search for the date range it might make things clearer if you can get the relevant transactions on the same page?
Please go to search and change the date range so both balances appear in the same screenshot.

There cannot be a hidden transaction as the general ledger account reconciles with my bank account.

Just an update here - we are looking into this issue with @strivs in a private message and will work to resolve it there. This is something on their account which affects the balance, so wouldn’t affect any other account.
