The last 2 days I’ve not had the usual ‘bar’ pop up at the top of the barclays page when I choose barclays from the extension. Obviously, this is needed to be able to login quickly and export the data. I’ve not been able to get the automatic feed to work, but this hasn’t been a problem as i’ve just used the extension.
I’ve reinstalled chrome, deleted all the extension data within the appdata folder as well as deleted all cookies, the bar just doesn’t pop up.
All other banks I select on the list pop up fine, but obviously I don’t bank with those so it is of no use.
Is this a known problem? If so, is there a workaround? I have 2-3 days of transactions which aren’t in my accounts at the moment and I always like to keep things up to date.
Barclays recently changed their login screen (see screenshot further down). We updated the feed to accommodate these new login forms and when we made the changes it was also backward compatible with the old form.
I understand they may have now changed the old form slightly thus breaking the backward compatibility whilst retaining compatibility with the new form. As you can appreciate we are always at the mercy of changes Barclays or any other bank makes, we won’t be warned about this and it can often instantly break the feed.
The Solution:
In my experience, all you need to do is log in manually once (if you’re seeing the old form), this will drop a cookie and move you to the new form on the next login (at that point the banner will reappear).
That is strange, I thought everyone had transitioned to the new forms now?
It’s going to need a developer to look at this in a little more detail. I suspect it may require a code change and redeployment to the Chrome Store. I will try to get this looked at today but the republishing to the store can take 12 hours to udpate.
Clearing the cookies will revert you back to the old forms. I think Barclays are still gradually moving people over.
Anyhow I had a quick look and it turned out to be a very minor change to the old form that could be fixed in 2 minutes. I didn’t need to hand this one off so I’ve fixed and republished to the Chrome Store.
You should auto-update to the new version 1.32 shortly. You’ll know you’re updated when that banner reappears again on the old login procedure.
