Receipt Hub, FX receipts and GBP matching

I’m struggling to use QF as a I want to when loading foreign currency receipts - but I recognise it might be me, rather than QF, so hoping for help.

The ideal use case for me would be this:

  • Bank transactions auto-load (done, thanks to Open Banking & QF  )
  • I scan / load receipt (some foreign currency transaction)
  • I identify receipt, entering the receipt currency (say USD) and the GBP value (from loaded bank transactions)
  • I match to bank (either from receipt hub or from bank)

Sadly, this use case doesn’t work for me - it won’t match on the GBP amount, even though I know I’ve entered the value and date to exactly match the bank transaction.

What I end up having to do, is enter in the base currency (GBP) and then manually record the FX currency if I want to.

This just seems wrong - it reduces the amount of information (currency & value of original transaction), which reduces the possibilities for analysis, etc.

Am I doing it wrong, or is this still something that could be improved?

Thanks, Martin

Hi @mlawson

What currency is the transaction being recorded in, and is it the same as the receipt in the receipt hub (e.g. both USD, both GBP etc.)?

Currency normally recorded in GBP (because paid from my regular business GBP account), receipt in foreign currency - often USD because of a US service provider, or EUR because I’be been using my debit card in Europe, etc.

However, when I record the receipt, I check and record the actual GBP from my HSBC account, so enter the foreign currency, then the actual GBP amount (and it calculates the exchange rate). This is what I’d like to do:

However, I still don’t get a match, even with GBP amount and date both correct.

So, I think all that it is needed is a logic change for a programmatic check of the calculated GBP amount against the GBP account, rather than checking the entered foreign currency amount (which will never match the GBP account anyway, unless erroneously).
