Recent events dropdown

Has there been a recent (within the last week or so) change to the recent events functionality? It used to be ‘open’ automatically when logging into the dashboard or selecting an invoice. But now it’s minimised by default…and it’s driving me up the wall. If this has indeed been changed on purpose, any chance of an account level toggle so that we can switch it back to the way it used to be?

Hi,
There is a switch in your account advanced settings.

Hope this helps

Hello @Oliver_Nash

We did make a change last week.

The purpose of this change is to reduce server load and improve general performance.

From now on the event list at the bottom of the page (dashboard, invoice, client, supplier pages) is automatically collapsed by default. You can click a down arrow to expand it.

Should you not want to do this there is also a setting to have it always expanded (Account Settings > Advanced Settings).

Would have been nice to have a popup to mention this rather than just silently make a major change to UX. This list is the reason I log in and is the thing that tells me what is happening. I’ve checked advanced settings, this option is already on and the list is minimised.

Have you also made some changes to page layout? The recent events list and pinboard have now changed places. Can we put this back to how it was or make it customisable?

Hi @Lurch

I’ve just had a look and resolved this for you.

We haven’t changed anything else, but if it still looks off to you, by all means send over a screenshot in a private message and we can take a look for you.

This is driving me up the wall as well. It seems broken. The little arrow should be pointing upwards if it’s minimised by default.

There are better ways of doing this than using a click(). The entries are below the fold so why not implement a lazyload so it opens when the user scrolls down the page. That’s going to take some load off of the servers and work as intended for the user.

Also I find that these subtle changes in the UI can have detrimental effects on the experience. I personally thought something was broken, like my invoices weren’t going out or being read, or my account had been shut down etc etc.

Please reconsider this.
[Edit] Just seen that you have implemented a Setting. But my comments are still somewhat valid.

@adamoc Completely agree. It’d be great if a changelog of bugfixes and feature updates was maintained so we could check there before asking on the forum. @QFMathew - is this something that can be considered?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have passed this on t our development team for review. If anything changes here, we’ll let you know.

For now, watch this space

A changelog would be helpful. It did confuse me a bit when I logged in so something like an alert in the account would be good
