We use a handwriiten ‘chitty’ for some small sales items, both cash sales or for later invoicing. The receipt hub and it’s upload feature are great for recording these but it would be nice if we could create a new sales invoice from the ‘chitty’ in rather the same way as a purchase receipt is handled. Does anyone else have a similar interest?
I think the problem there could be keeping invoice numbering aligned. It’s usually best to keep handwritten sales receipts and the like separate and enter them as daily/weekly takings.
If a client does their invoicing outside of QF, is it possible for them to email in that invoice and then tag it to their sales transactions? And if not, is that something that might be coming? This would be perfect for mobile businesses who issue paper receipts to their clients but want that paperwork documented against the manual matching sales transactions they would later need to make.
On the sames lines, it would be great to be able to tag transfer documentation too (eg. a loan agreement transferred from the bank to a loan account).
Hi @Techology
I’ve merged your post here as the request is both for sales invoices to be taggable in the receipt hub - just helps us keep track of interest in these features.
It’s not possible at the moment I’m afraid, and neither is it planned at the moment. As with the other requests, we’ll happily look into this further if there is sufficient interest from the community . Watch this space!
Lurch, that’s not the issue. it’s the ability to associate the photocopied hand written document with a sales transaction where relevant (the exact same thing we already do in Receipt Hub for receipts).
This also applies to transfers where there is documentation it would be good to associate a transaction with. What a great piece of software QF would become with such a feature.
Thank you QF. I see that this topic has had 250 views. Does the number of views count towards interest? Sometimes people just get used to faster horses rather than adopting the motor car (with apologies to Mr Ford for using his quote). QF is an excellent piece of software, and with Receipts Hub for client work, it just excels even more, so whatever you do, thanks for all of it.
What I do in this situation is upload the relevant file to the document manager and then copy the direct s3 URL and add that as a comment on the transaction. But yes, it’d be nice if this could be automated a bit.
That’s a great idea Ian. I see that the URL can be captured from the ‘Name’ field just above the image in the tagging window (without actually needing to tag it) - just adding this here in case anyone else wants to know.
The pattern of having a table of transactions with an option to attach a link to a document makes this so very possible for all ledgers of course
True, but note that the URL changes if you do actually tag the receipt. If you’re uploading something specifically to attach it to a bank transaction or nominal ledger you’re better off uploading it to one of the other folders (miscellaneous, contracts, etc.) in the document manager.
I hadn’t even seen that feature! Thank you.
