Be great if Quickfile could allow customers card details to be retained (actually Stripe will store it so we actually never know the card details directly) and allow the user to manage / change the card details by following a link through their portal. This could then be used for recurring payments (following some advance warnings of subscription renewal).
Not 100% sure it’s legal to store credit card numbers unless you have a merchant license.
It all depends on how Stripe are licensed and what their agreements with the card issuers are.
we use GoCardless but the words “direct debit” seem to frighten a lot of people off who would quite happily take a recurring payment on a credit card.
It defers the PCI compliance to Stripe which is what is good about the idea - as an end user we have no access to the full card details but they are stored on Stripes PCI compliant systems. Stripe is capable of this, we already use Woocommerce addins that work in this way and it really makes collecting recurring micro payments easy (especially internationally).
