Rolling back old VAT returns

Hi,

I am trying to sort out my back account and I need to roll back some VAT returns from 2015 in order to delete lots of little transactions and input one large amount paid to a supplier. I need to do this in order to get my bank account and statements to tally up, we had not been using the bank account on quickfile but my accountant has instructed me to get the bank account to balance or they won’t be able to do our books. the roll back button isn’t there as an option on these returns and I don’t have online filing allowed.

or basically I need to delete all the payments and show the invoices as unpaid again so I can enter a lump payment

Hi @Camilla_DeBruin

You should be able to roll back VAT returns, but you would need to do them in order, so if you have created any after the one you wish to roll back, you would need to roll these back first.

It’s worth remembering however, that if the amended return after the changes show that you owe more VAT to HMRC than what you originally declared, you would need to inform them as soon as possible. If all you’re doing is amended bank entries, unless you’re on cash accounting, I can’t imagine this being an issue.

Hope that helps!
