Sales figure in VAT Return

The sales figure on my VAT return is much smaller than the actual value of sales. Please advise what I am doing wrong
Thanks
Mark

Hi @Mark2

There are a few things to check and consider to ensure everything is being picked up correctly.

  • If this is your first return, check that you’ve entered your start date correctly
  • Check that you’re on the correct scheme (cash or accrual accounting, flat rate scheme etc.)
  • Cross reference your invoices and payments against the backing report (clicking ‘Download Calculations’ will produce this for you)
  • Check the rates have been entered correctly on your invoices
  • Are any of the sales marked as reverse charged?

We can provide guidance on QuickFile features, but you may find it best to check them over with your accountant. If you dont have an accountant, we have a panel of accountants we can put you in touch with.

Obviously, if you think that QuickFile isn’t picking something up as intended, please provide us with a few more details (send it in a private message if you wish - simply click my name and then ‘Message’), and we’ll happily take a look for you.

I hope this helps

Hi there. thanks very much. I will check everything on your list. Appreciate swift response

Hi there

I have been through the checklist and still no joy.

I my payments list it clearly states a series of payments recorded, by date, over this quarter, but the number on the VAT Return is much lower. No idea why.
