Sales Invoice using different nominal codes than client's default

Looking for some help:

I’ve created a sales invoice with eight items totalling £310 and allocated it to a sales account (4908) .

In my P&L its has been allocated £245 to account 4908 and £65 to account 4000 General Sales.

What is interesting is (1) the Client Profile has be modified to 4908 and (2) there is not a line item on the invoice for £65. The whole £310 should have been posted to 4908.

This is the second time this has happened, first time i thought i may have made and error, definitely didn’t the second.

I know I can Journal from 400 to 4098, the whole point of creating the new code was to avoid secondary transactions.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Dave

If you click on cog icon on description or notes column, you will see categories, you can select 4908 for £65 sale item

Thanks @FaradayKeynes , that may solve the binning to correct account , but, however does not explain how/why its happened. Maybe @QFMathhew can assist?

Have a look at your sales inventory items if you have setup or saved it for this 65 item, which sales account is setup for it

OK, will do, Many Thanks. :+1:

Hi @dmarti32

I would suspect it could be down to what @FaradayKeynes mentioned - the inventory items being set to 4000.

As long as the invoice isn’t locked however, you can edit it from the invoice itself. The nominal code set against the client is just the default, and can be overridden on the invoice itself.

Hope that helps!

It was indeed, and thanks to the prompt from Faraday Keynes I have been able to streamline my invoicing. I hadn’t looked at the Sales inventory feature before. You just keep learning!
Most grateful to you both for replying at the weekend.

Dave
