SMTP Change email password fails

I received an email from QuickFile saying that my email settings are deactivated due to too 3 failures (although I got a Cc’d email for an invoice I manually approved this morning).

I’ve created a new app-specific password on my Zoho email service. However when I enter the new password and click ‘save’, QuickFile gives an error “500 - Server Error, We’re very sorry, there was a problem loading this page.”

I don’t know whether the email password has updated or not and not sure how to test.

Kind regards,
Rick

Hello Rick

I just tested the smtp settings on your account and got an authentication error, so it looks like it did not update.

Strange because I found how to generate a letter and sent one to myself at this Zoho hosted email address and it came through.

Kind regards,

Rick

When the SMTP settings are deactivated the email falls back to the Quickfile mail service so your emails will be from a Quickfile address, not your own.

Hi Stuart

Understood. How do I get the password changed then please?

Kind regards,
Rick

Rather than try and save the new password, Delete the SMTP settings and recreate them with the new password; that fixed it for me when I had that issue last week.

Thanks, that has worked.

Kind regards,

Rick
