Hi
I entered a vat return in wrong order, i rolled back the return but all my transactions are still locked, this is my first return with Quickfile so no other return can be causing the locking, anybody got any advice before this laptop goes out window?
The other thing besides a VAT return that can cause transactions to be locked is the “account lock date” which is typically set when you run a year end and locks everything before that date. If you’ve run a year end then you’d need to remove the year end journal and then manually set the lock date back a year.
However you’re probably going want to talk to your accountant about this one…
If you submitted a later VAT return before the earlier one then the way QuickFile works the later return will already have included all the items that belonged to the earlier return - this is deliberate behaviour, QuickFile includes all items dated on or before the end date of the period you’re submitting that are not already accounted for in an earlier return, so that if you find things you missed after a submission you can put them in on their true dates and still have them reconciled with HMRC at the earliest opportunity.
Now since there’s no way to amend a return once it has been submitted to HMRC (that’s an HMRC limitation, not a QuickFile one) you’re probably going to need to make some manual adjustments to submit a nil return for the earlier period, then disable online filing and re-save the original return, applying the same adjustments in reverse to make it agree with the values you originally submitted. You’ll probably also need to submit a form to HMRC notifying them of the error, your accountant can confirm for definite.
hi
thank you for answer however it actually states that is the vat return that has locked the transactions
thanks
