I’m unable to find VAT options. I’m trying to mark a client’s invoice as exempt / out of scope.
I’ve looked in modify client details section and the invoice itself.

Which one? Is it exempt or is it out of scope, and why? The two mean different things, and some things that are technically outside the scope of UK VAT (like sales of services to an overseas client) should still be entered in QuickFile as zero rated so they appear in your box 6 total.
The “out of scope” option in QuickFile will omit the entire invoice from your VAT return calculations so it doesn’t appear in any of the boxes, and it’s rare that this is truly what you need.
It’s an invoice for design services to a client in the USA. I guess it should be zero rated (so it appears in box 6)?
