Unsuccessful submission of VAT Submission

My Quickfile VAT return has always worked perfectly before. This time its being rejected by HMRC.

“The submission for reference 11417 was received on 06-07-2017. Unfortunately it could not be accepted as it failed HMRC data checks.”

Is there any way to tell what is going wrong? I’m holding for HMRC but they don’t seem very optimistic about taking my call today!

Any help or advice will be very gratefully received.

A quick search suggests that this could be down to a number of reasons:

If you log into the HMRC website directly, are you submitting for the period they’re expecting?
