Can some one please explain why a system nominal account cannot be changed by the user. I do not like the names given to some of these. Why can’t you at least change the name from say “General Sales” to “Turnover” or “General Purchases” to “Cost of Sales” etc?
I’m changing accounts package because of MTD so I would like to retain some familiarity with my previous naming conventions.
I’d be happy for this change even if I had to pay for it

These codes are core system codes and some of them form part of the way QuickFile works. Unfortunately you’re not able to change these.
However, you can certainly hide them and add your own.
To hide unused codes, go to your Chart of Accounts and then More Options >> Add/Remove Unused accounts. You can then add your own from the same screen.
It’s worth noting that wording like “Turnover” and “Cost of Sales” are used in reports like your profit and loss
