If any accountant can advise me i would be grateful, as part of my business i have ot order certain software from american company they have no uk based one the invoices includes there VAT/TAX can i claim that back if so how?
They don’t have VAT in the US, you won’t be able to reclaim sales tax in the UK. Most US invoices are marked “Out of Scope for UK VAT”.
Disclaimer: As you may know I am not an accountant, so I would always recommend you seek professional advice any such matters.
I understand thanks glenn, i dnt kno how the american system works full stop so i have no idea what i can claim if anything i know when i have bought personally stuff from america i have to pay uk tax on it but i ain’t sure what happens here as such i ain’t importing just buy a license key
Do they explicitly say “VAT” or just “Sales Tax”?
If it’s “VAT” then double check the small print as you might actually be buying from Ireland or Luxembourg.
I will need to check i think it says taxes but i honestly dnt understand other countrys system so not sure, barely know the uk system enough trade
Ok weirdly the invoice is from china even though it is american company, it does say vat on it but vat has been set to zero but hard to tell if there taxes or such on it weird invoice i have to say but thank you for advice
