Hi Guys,
We are using the QF API to push sales invoices from our own bespoke website to QF. We are starting to process a considerable volume of sales invoices. We have just hit the VAT threshold and are due to switch over to becoming VAT registered today. We have made the necessary API/code changes to facilitate VAT in both the website and subsequently QF and we are ready to test in a live environment.
I just wanted to reach out to the community to ask if there is anything else we should consider or be wary of when migrating from a Non-Vat to Vat Reg in context of the above.
One question I do have is, are there any easy, automated way of extracting out of the last 6 months of accounts purchases (prior to becoming VAT registered), those purchases that we have paid VAT on, as I am informed that we can recuperate the Vat on service invoices. (we have a mixture of VAT and None VAT suppliers & we have a fair volume of purchase invoices!)
Is there a slick way of doing this or is it a case of manually going through supplier by supplier, for the past 6 months or N/C and recording in a spreadsheet.
Regarding recuperating VAT on stock we still retain and have purchased over the last 5 years, because we buy stock from some many different sources, often job lots as well as new stock from suppliers and because we are a small business, we have never run a stock inventory and thus we have resided to the fact that trying to calculate what we have left against what we have purchased is almost a none starter.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Andy
